PWS-Yellow-Screen

Play Work Stay is a creative training course for people aged 18-25 years at the start of, or considering, a creative career.

The main themes of the event are creative business skills, collaboration, creativity, enterprise and health and wellbeing. It will raise awareness of the creative and cultural sectors as viable options for careers and aims to provide delegates with the skills to navigate the current jobs market which is often project-based or freelance.

The weekend will be filled with workshops, presentations, activities and challenges that focus on developing your business ideas and sustainability as well as on your own creativity, art form and wellbeing.

Places will be open by application to people interested in:

  • Visual art, craft, music /DJing, film, photography, dance, drama, media, digital technology, theatre, writing, performance, sound & AV, gaming.
  • Arts & Heritage management: producing, curating, events, museums, attractions.

The timings of the event will be from 1pm on Friday 27th to 4pm on Sunday 29th September. A final agenda and timings will be provided after the application process.

Speakers will include successful practitioners who have made a career from their creativity and who have an insight into a particular aspect of the arts, cultural, creative and business sectors.

Workshops will include input from business and enterprise specialists on values, branding, marketing, business development, pitching for work and getting an understanding of the freelance world.

The residential will also provide the opportunity to work collaboratively on a live challenge to support Great Place Lakes and Dales.

There will be plenty of opportunity for socialising, play and collaboration as well as space to think on your own and relax.
