Events Wrap Up

Once again it’s been a busy year for events and there has been no shortage of creativity, inspiration and innovation!

Starting us off strong was the brand-new ACE funded Forge Festival – led by the Knotted Project – curated and presented by young people on the 1st May followed by the ever-popular Hinterlands Film Festival on 13th-15th May and Kendal Poetry Festival on 23rd-26th May. June brought us Grassington Festival (now in its 40th year!) and Skipton Sheep Day on 26th June.

July was absolutely jam-packed with events with Skipton hosting its first ever Pride Festival on 2nd July, followed by Eskfest, 42 Degrees, Yorkshire Food and Drink Festival and Kendal Calling, all bringing about a wide range of talent and creativity. And to finish off the summer,   partnered with Sea Power to bring us Krankenhaus Festival, set in the beautiful Muncaster Castle.

Luckily for us, summer isn’t where the festivities ended. In autumn Skipton hosted its 10th Yarndale Festival while Kendal hosted both Kendal Torchlight Carnival  and  Kendal Mountain Festival with  Lakes International Comic Arts Festival in Bowness-on-Windermere for the first time. Yorkshire Festival of Story then took place over most of November, entertaining us with their tantalising storytelling, both online and in-person at their first hybrid event.

To finish the year off, Skipton played host to its exciting Santa Fun Run and Christmas Light Switch On to get everybody in the festive mood, so great to see everybody back enjoying their town centres.

We can’t wait to see what next year brings!
