Lakeland Arts have some exciting news – after a long-awaited redevelopment, Abbot Hall has re-opened!

Abbot Hall is one of Britain’s preeminent small art galleries, set in a beautifully restored Grade I-listed Georgian building on the banks of the River Kent in Kendal, Cumbria. The gallery holds an outstanding collection of 18th-21st century fine art and curates high quality temporary exhibitions.

They kicked off with a grand opening on May 20th, launching a fresh direction with a major exhibition by internationally renowned British artist Julie Brook. What is it That Will Last? (20 May – 30 December 2023) is an exhibition of film, sound, drawing and photography across both floors of Abbot Hall and offers a rare insight into an extensive body of work made in remote locations in Scotland, Japan and Cumbria.

As well as the new exhibition at the newly renovated Abbot Hall, Lakeland Arts have an array of exciting activities happening across all of their venues including family craft activities, kayak and canoe tours and art exhibitions.
