The Artery

The Artery, now in its second year, is offering local creatives an opportunity to meet every two months to explore issues that will help their businesses to thrive, starting in January 2023. They have an active core group and are looking to welcome others, whatever their creative practice may be. The group is support-based and works around the needs of the group, so they are looking for people who want to contribute as well as grow and develop.

A participant of The Artery Peer Support sessions said “[It] was really useful, thank you! – particularly highlighting the ‘knowing what I should be doing’ and taking the time to assess what I am actually doing!”

They are also delighted to have funding from Screen Industries Growth Network to offer two exciting approaches to support young people exploring a freelance/creative career. The first will run at Craven College, Ingleton Building on 8th, 15th and 22nd January 2023, 10.00 am to 4.00 pm. This will be delivered by Karen Merrifield and Virpi Kettu, an award-winning director, animator and digital artist and owner of Kettu Studios, exploring how animation and AR can help us to focus on our businesses.

The second programme, delivered as a hybrid starting on 10th January will be delivered by Karen and Leo Devine, a former journalist, radio presenter and head of BBC South West, focusing on storytelling and journalism as a model.
