The Fold

The Fold image

Despite the challenges of the past year, The Fold is going from strength to strength. Co-curated by young people in Bentham, Settle and Kendal the project has so far seen artists work with young people to install a mural and flags in Bentham skate park, half-term activity packs with work from professional artists included delivered via SELFA in Skipton and Kendal Foodbank, and the launch of new zine, Folded, run by young artists in the area. What’s next? People aged 16-25 from the Yorkshire Dales, the South Lakes or the Lake District National Park, are also taking part in a free online embroidery workshop hosted by artist Robyn Nichol and with all materials provided for free. Local photographer, Juliet Klotrupp, is capturing the young people involved through a photographic exhibition, more designs are planned for the skatepark in Bentham and an outdoor mural will be painted in Settle in May to celebrate the town’s heritage and distinctiveness.
