Call-out for artists now closed. Check back for programme announcement.

A new arts and cultural programme, The Fold, is coming to the Lakes and Dales in Spring 2020 and invites your Expression of Interest!

Three chosen locations Kendal, Settle and Bentham will be hosts to an exciting programme of events which will include everything from Music and Making to Design and Debating.

Each location will be host to a pop-up/transformed space where young people can attend drop in and bookable workshops, live music sessions, performances, talks and other stimulating projects that will occur for three weeks in each location, before moving onto the other two locations in the two consecutive months.

We’re looking for artists, musicians, crafters, workshop facilitators, creative business owners and speakers, both locally and nationally, to submit an expression of interest to be part of the programme.

The events will be co-curated by local young people with the events being aimed at those between the ages of 16-25. In the coming weeks The Fold will run co-design workshops with young people who would like to be involved in the curation of the project.

The FOLD will provide a platform for creatives and young people to showcase their work, their hobbies and artforms. It will also programme the work of young artists and creative practitioners from other relevant rural locations around the UK to share skills and expertise, while having knowledge of the culture and lifestyle in rural locations. Through the mentoring and support of young creatives, with workshops including entrepreneurial skills, marketing, social media, and business skills, the project will provide a platform for young people in Kendal, Settle and Bentham to develop their work, have a voice and feel empowered.
